How a product gets on a page

• The capacity has to be published. We record the manufacturer's stated weight rating from the current listing or spec sheet. If none is published, the product cannot be ranked on a capacity page.
• The lower number wins. Listings often print one capacity in the title and a smaller one in the spec table. We treat the smaller one as the rating.
• Owners have to agree. A pick needs a solid review record, roughly 4 stars or better across at least 50 reviews, so a young listing does not lead a page on promises alone.
• You have to be able to buy it. If we cannot confirm a product is in stock, it is not ranked, however well known it is. When that leaves a famous name out, the page says so.

What the scores mean

Each pick is scored 0 to 5 on five things: verified capacity, comfort at size, build and durability, fit and dimensions, and value and warranty. These are our editorial judgments, made from published specs, warranty terms and owner reports. They are not lab measurements, and we do not own the products we rate.

No brand pays to appear on this site or to change a ranking. We show price bands ($ to $$$$) rather than dollar figures, because store prices change daily and the retailer's page always shows the current one.
